How old were you when you started playing guitar and what was your first guitar?
I was eight years old and I started with a little guitar rom Toys R Us. It was so cute! I still have it.
Who are your musical influences and how have they influenced your music today?
I'm influenced by a lot! Especially people like Reba McEntire, The Band Perry, and little Sheryl Crow, and of course my family(: They all make me want to be a better person and be the absolute best at what I love to do.
As you are only 14, when was it that you decided that you wanted to pursue music as a career and how do you juggle that with school and friends?
I recently had a birthday, so now I'm actually 15! Ever since I picked up a guitar when I was eight, I knew that this was what I loved. I have been so blessed to have wonderful opportunities to further what I hope will be my career! As for juggling all that fun stuff, it's like anyone else- time management! My friends are super supportive, too.
You’ve already released four cd’s all of your own original music. How are your songs inspired?
By everything. I always try to stop and look at things around me and think about what they are and how it makes me feel.
You’re endorsed by several companies. Can you tell us a little about your gear?
Oh my goodness, YES!! Martin Guitars has been amazing and let me customize some of my guitars. Martin guitars are incredible so I have a lot of fun playing them. I'm also endorsed by Black Diamond Strings (they totally rock!!!) and Stella and Dot Jewelry. I'm kind of an accessories freak so that works out very well! I love their jewelry and love wearing it on stage.
For such a young girl, you have had the opportunity to meet and play with some of the best in the business like Sheryl Crow, Pat Benatar, Charlie Daniels and the GoGo’s, and opened for artists Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton and Lifehouse. Can you share with us one of your most memorable experiences?
Just last week I crossed a big item off my dream list. I got to play the Ryman Auditorium. It was such a humbling experience! It's one of the most legendary places in country music, and I stood and performed on the stage. I swear, there is nothing like looking out in the audience of such a beloved place and sing the songs I wrote. It was truly magical!
You are signed with Sony/ATV in Nashville. How has that worked out for you?
I think it's worked out really well! Everybody there is helping me grow as a writer and a performer. It's great to work with people like that.
Do you have a regular band that you perform with, or do you use studio musicians?
Nope, I have a regular band. All of us are from Florida and have played together for about 4 years, now! We play all of my full band shows together and have a blast.
Besides music, what other interests do you have?
Hmmm, I love to read. You can go to another place and another world and fall in love with the characters! I'm currently in the middle of like, three books.
Where can our readers find out more about you, hear some of your music and, hopefully, catch a live show?
My website www.carolinekole.com has a full list of when and where I’ll be next!! I always love it when I meet someone new! I'm on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube...all that fun stuff, too(: There are links to it all on my webpage. Come friend me, y'all!!
